We hope you got insight from reading it, now let’s go back to stuffed hot banana peppers recipe. To cook stuffed hot banana peppers you need 6 ingredients and 9 steps. Here is how you do it.

The ingredients needed to make Stuffed Hot Banana Peppers:
  1. Get 10 to 12 fresh banana peppers
  2. Use 2 packages shredded mozzarella cheese
  3. Provide 1 packages fresh basil (chopped)
  4. Provide 1 medium container ricotta cheese
  5. Use 1 tube of Bob Evans Zesty Pork Sausage (or regular Pork Sausage) or 1 pd. ground italian sausage
  6. Prepare 1 jar of your favorite marinara sauce
Steps to make Stuffed Hot Banana Peppers:
  1. Cook your sausage. Drain grease and set aside.
  2. Cut tops off of Banana peppers. With a small knife cut down about almost the length of the pepper. (don't slice all the way through pepper) Remove seeds. Place peppers in a deep pan or skillet with a lid in about an inch of water. You will steam the peppers on low heat till they are fork tender or "El dente" about 10-15 minutes. Turn peppers often. Dont let them over cook on one side.
  3. Remove peppers from pan and let cool.
  4. In a large mixing bowl add your cooked sausage, ricotta cheese, chopped fresh basil and 1 bag shredded mozzarella cheese. Mix until blended.
  5. Coat a large casserole pan with your jar of marinara. (I like a sweeter sauce so I mix in about 3-4 tablespoons of sugar to take away the bitter of the sauce) Set aside.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°
  7. Stuff each pepper with stuffing mixture and then lay atop marinara in your casserole pan.
  8. Top stuffed peppers with the remaining package of mozzarella cheese
  9. Cook stuffed peppers about 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Wash banana peppers and removed the stems. Slice banana peppers into rings about a quarter inch thick. In a saucepan, bring add remaining ingredients and Banana peppers have a much milder taste than bell peppers, and bring a different flavor to the traditional dish. So if you can't handle hot stuff you could easily use all mild Italian sausage…. wuss wink. Also, the picture isn't the prettiest - turns out these things really don't photograph that well.
