It was not really that long ago that hippies and tree huggers were the only ones to show concern regarding the well-being of the environment. That’s a thing of the past now, with everybody being aware of the problems besetting the planet and the shared responsibility we have for turning things around. Unless everyone begins to start living much more eco-friendly we won’t be able to fix the problems of the environment. This needs to happen soon and living in approaches more friendly to the environment should become a mission for every individual family. Here are a number of tips that can help you save energy, for the most part by making your kitchen area more green.

Let us begin with something really easy, changing the particular light bulbs. Of course you shouldn’t confine this to only the kitchen area. You need to upgrade your incandescent lights with energy-saver, compact fluorescent light bulbs. Although costing a little more originally, these types of bulbs last as long as ten of the conventional type as well as using a lot less energy. Utilizing these types of longer-lasting lightbulbs has the actual benefit that many fewer lightbulbs make it into landfills. It goes further than merely replacing the lights, though; turning off lights that aren’t needed is another good thing to do. The family spends considerable time in the kitchen, and how frequently does the kitchen light go on in the morning and is left on all day long. Obviously this also happens in some other rooms, not simply the kitchen. Make a routine of having the lights on only when they are necessary, and you’ll be astonished at the amount of electricity you save.

As you can see, there are lots of little items that you can do to save energy, and also save money, in the kitchen alone. It is reasonably uncomplicated to live green, after all. Largely, all it requires is a little bit of common sense.

  2. Combine honey, oil, and vanilla in a measuring cup. - Add honey mixture to oat mixture and take time to combine thoroughly - about a minute. - Spread in baking pan, pressing down very firmly. Try pressing down with the back of a spatula.
  3. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool completely in pan. (mine takes an hour to cool on a cooling rack). - Remove from pan (using parchment handles) to cutting board. Remove paper and cut into bars.
  4. #Tip: - - Bars not holding together? Try pressing them down again after baking. Let them cool for 10 minutes and press down firmly while warm, then let them cool COMPLETELY before cutting. - - Bars Too Brittle? Two Options: 1) Bake for only 27 minutes. 2) Place the 9 x 9 pan on a baking sheet to bake. That might keep the bottom of the bars softer.

They tasted great, but fell apart. So, we sort of gave up and moved on with the thought that one day, we would be ready to give them another shot. I was low on granola bars and too lazy to go to the store so I searched and found this recipe. I have made it twice in the last week and it came out great both I didn't have peanut butter and instead used Nutella. I like that these are chewy and not crispy granola bars.
